Life's Song
The pulsating rhythm of lifebeats steadily no more.
The crescendo has passed
and the diminuendo is finished.
Bereft of any resonance,
reality melts around me.
Darkness surrounds me
and flows through my veins.
What was once inside me
is now dead and decayed,
replaced by agonizing pain.
This once deep grave
is now a shallow pool,
filled with my own caustic tears.
All signs of life
have faded from my sensory sphere,
and thoughts become a scarcity.
Time winds down
and seconds become centuries.
My perception is now credulous,
and all has ceased to exist.
