    Predator and Prey

    An animal approaches very slow

In fear that it may be hurt.

It is not stupid because it knows.

So in fear, he stays alert.

Never guard down. Always guard up

And, always, in fear of pain.

All it takes is one opportunity

And it can be in danger to be slain.

His trust is limited, as the same as mine.

And his reason why is understandable and true.

I fear my predator the same as he,

So I will question, “Can I trust you?”

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
