    Dear Leader

Yes. I am an American Solider. Does this mean that I have no more rights? No it doesn’t. It means that I signed up to protect the country and gave me these rights. And to make things even more interesting, I put my faith in the system that issues my order’s through my chain of command. Does this mean I have to follow every order that my chain of command gives me? Yes it does. Does this mean that my chain of command can use its power to profit off of my pride of my country that I am willing to die for? As far as I’m concerned, no it doesn’t. As a solider I am suppose to do what I am told, which I will. But if I see that there is anyway to avoid leaving the one’s I love and care about I will have faith in my leadership to make sure that they make it happen. It is true. War does bring income but what type of leadership on purposely pushes the reason for war without true negotiation? I signed those papers because I believe that this is the land of freedom and opportunity. I believe that it is worth me defending to my death. And my death has no price. My death is not going to benefit my family financially, will not help me see life better, will not increase my income and will not keep the stock market at a good point. I am an American solider. I will kill when I am told to kill and go when I am told to go. The truth of the matter is…my rights have been limited. But I feel that it should be worth it. At least, that’s what I thought. There were times when the king of his land would be next to his men during the battle. Put on the same battle armor and fight with the same bloody sword. The soldiers and their king. The king was in the mist of the battle giving his speeches before they went into the hot zone to die for each other. The king gave the men faith and let them know exactly why they left their homes and families and made sure he did not led them into a total massacre or ambush. Because the king knew if he put his men in the situation, he would be in it to.

Not today, though. Our kings like to lead us into battles with knowledge that we may get slaughtered like sheep and don’t take the proper precautions to protect our lives because they feel if the move isn’t done at that moment, money and economy could be lost. Maybe our king needs to come to battle with us. Pack up his things and leave his family behind. Pick up a weapon and face the same dangers we face when he gives the order to attack. Have our king start watching his friends loose their lives in front of him. Maybe then he will not just use us for his own connivance or financial gain. I’m not saying I will not back my king up but I am saying more precautions can be taken. I do not want the people to look at me when I pass through their cities as a monster or war crazy fool. I want them to say he is here to help me get my freedom and negotiate with my people to neutralize something that could destroy the world. Greed for money and power. I did not sign my contract to defend those things. If one should attack my country for that reason I will lay down my life to make sure they do not succeeded. But before things result to that ,as your American solider that will do anything that his chain of Command tells him to, make sure we have done everything that could have possibly been done to prevent my death. I want to be able to enjoy the gifts I lay down my life for. And I want to see my family enjoy them to.

    Sincerely Your Endangered Species,

    The American Solider

Bravo Chris bravo. I truly and will always believe a sign I use to see on my way to work. This is the land of the free because of the brave. You are one of my true heroes. My daughter and I are in a group called soldiers Angels. Sometimes we get so disgusted when we find out our fine men and woman are receiving so little from their country. Simple things like socks powdered drinks and things that are reallt necessities in our eyes. When we have extra money we send them boxes and they are so grateful for the least little thing. maybe this should go to "Our King"as a real eye opener. I am grateful for my American Soldier.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
