My Pearl
My Pearl
With the weight of the sea on its shoulders
Pressure beyond belief
But in its shell it’s protected,
For the true treasure lies within.
Layers upon layers
Built over time
Turning pain into something beautiful
For the one willing to look inside.
The beauty of gold and rubies
Is always easy to see
For their beauty is on the surface
For all the world to see
But this treasures beauty
Lies deep within
For the one who knows
What to seek.
Its shell may be imperfect
Its rough edges throw you off
But if you take the time to crack its shell
And open it up,
There lies, my Perfect Pearl.
