Unexpected Rendezvous
A dark and stormy nightWind blowing and howling
Thunder and lightning strike
Surrounding the sky
A stranger seeks shelter
From the brutal weather
As he stumbles in the night
He eyes a cabin on his right
Grateful for the blessing
He looks up in his pleasure
Thanking God for his measure
As he gets a bit closer
He sees a light in the window
As he draws ever nearer
The door creaks open
Just a small crack
He peaks in and knocks
And as the door widens
He sees an old woman
Making some stew over a fire
She bids him welcome
And closes the door behind
She shows the table
With its two place settings
She then points to a sofa
Nods for him to lay down
Where he falls fast asleep
After a while he awakes
To find the old woman
Sitting with another
Wandering stranger
In this dark night
A lovely young woman
Who turns out to be, his ex-wife
When they look around
The old woman has gone
At first they look, but realize
That she could not have really gone
So stuck together for the night
They sit and eat and talk
Find out they're still in love
And praise God for this stormy night
