"My Poem"

I found this site by accident, it was offered by a friend
T'wood be nice to be a poet: sumthin I have never been
If I had a big vocabulary and really had some time
some of my words like nouns and verbs
may even chance to rhyme

But first I am so puzzled as a topic I must choose
since I haven't done this ever--I really have the blues
If I had a little help and even have a friend
It would really be much easier to know where to begin

When first I came into this room and sat my body down
I had a smile upon my face and not this dreadful frown
My tallents not quite up to par so I do have this fear
So I think I'll put this poem off and go have myself a beer'

Satch - I got a new pop-culture hero - you! This is about as cool an introduction as anyone could hope to have. If you don't mind, I'll have a beer with you; I might be 4,000 miles away but the next one I hoist, I'll raise the glass to you, and hope to be just like you when I grow up, ha ha.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
