In the Book of Life
In the Book of Life
Father Time declared to me
Days of youthful strength would cease to be
As the wisdom of age would now guide me
Through the remaining time that would be
My future time left on this earth
As I near my destination since my birth
And my tattoos would be bodily scars
Memorabilia from life’s many wars
But in the memory of others stored away
Would be fond recollections of my day
Of thoughts of me both happy and sad
And of things I did that were good and bad
Father Time also declared to me
That all that I hoped to be
Was still in the realm of possibility
Awaiting my faith to set them free
For Father Time himself was only a recorder
Of deeds and events for the God of peace and order
All events of both joy and strife
To be written in the book of life
