Because of Color of Skin
Because of Color of Skin
America was going along with blinders on
Thinking that the cancer of racism was gone
Wasn’t interracial dating and marriage on the rise?
We thought as we looked at the world through denial’s eyes
Sure there were pockets of racist events here and there
But many believed there was nothing to fear
For the most part every one had accepted the fact
The Jim Crow era was over and America wouldn’t go back
But that was before we started losing jobs overseas and off shore
And illegal aliens started showing up more and more
Working for much less than any American would
Or for that matter could or should
Rabble rousers for their own power gain
Took advantage of blue collar pain
Telling them one ethnicity or other
Was the cause of this new millennium bother?
And racists awakened that were long asleep
With the separatist venom in their keep
That they’d saved for just such a day
To spew forth in a more subtle yet angry way
Like symbolic nooses on a campus tree
And sound bites merged to make a preacher look racist on TV
And the politically correct still pretend we live in a utopia
As false as the precept there’s none starving in Ethiopia
And for those who think racism is a thing of the past
It’s time to pull your head out of you’re a__
And repent and ask forgiveness for the sin
Of denying anyone opportunity because of color of skin
