    Seems So Far Away

    Seems So Far Away

From the balcony of my loneliness

    The lovely lady I espied

Bringing to my heart angst and restlessness

As I fought confusion and pride

Confusion as to why she affected me

So rapidly in such a way

As to flood my being with anxiety

Of having her to call mine someday

Upon meeting her to my chagrin

Winning her heart would be complicated

Nevertheless my love quest I did begin

Which left me more than not frustrated

But the vision of the prize

I felt awaited, when all was done

    Fueled my imagination to fantasize

Of happy times with this lovely one

But as Mother Nature and Father Time

Their cruel joke continued to play

Day after day I continue to find

Loving her seems so far away

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
