WILD ROSES
ROSE
A rose, so beautiful and full of color
You can’t help it but to get closer
You just want to get a better look
A rose drags you in, it drags you near
You contemplate it and walk around it
You want to touch it, feel it with your fingers
So you reach for it, it feels so soft
You want the rose, you want to take it home
Maybe if it is in your house it will make things brighter
If you put it in your living room, it might cheer you up
You want the rose, you want it now
You run home to prepare a perfect spot for it
Then you grab a pair of scissors, you go back to get it
You see it again; it even looks prettier than before
All excited and without thinking twice you reach for it
The wild rose has a lot of thorns and you get pricked all over
Your fingers are bleeding, but that does not deter you
You want the rose, you want it now, no stopping
After several minutes, you manage to cut it off
You run home to that special place you had picked for it
You lay it there, it is pure perfection
You are happy, you have your rose
All satisfied, smile in face, you go to bed
You can’t wait to wake up and see your beautiful rose
Day after day, you see your rose there
But you also notice, that day after day
You star to notice little imperfections, little things
Things that were not there before
Petals seem to get weaker, color seems to fade off
You grow concerned so you change the water
In hopes that the rose will come back to life
You grow worried, you are not happy with the rose anymore
One day it is clear the rose is gone
Petals are falling off of it; it no longer makes you smile
So you go back to the place where you found it
And you see another beautiful rose
This time you think twice about cutting it off
The rose looks beautiful but you have learned your lesson
A wild rose might not survive if you cut it off
A rose might not make it at your home
You think about getting a shovel and taking the whole plant
But, you don’t know if the whole tree would survive
And, if it doesn’t, then what would you do
At least now you can look at it grow and be alive
You grow confused
You want a rose
You walk away
You let the rose be
But you miss the rose
You hurt without the rose
You see it every day as you walk by
Maybe it would be easier if you could not see the rose
So for days you go without seeing the rose
but that simply makes things worse
You can't stand it being without the rose
So you decide to move your whole home right beside the rose
So that you can see it everyday
So that you don't change the rose
The rose can be healthy and full of life
Just like you originally liked it, you give in to the rose
You are happy, you can see the rose everyday
You realize that you had to give in to the rose
Maybe that is what you were doing wrong all this time
Roses don't have legs..you do
You love the rose
The rose loves you still
Even though you hurt it
The rose is still with you
A rose, so beautiful and full of color
You can’t help it but to get closer
You just want to get a better look
A rose drags you in, it drags you near
You contemplate it and walk around it
You want to touch it, feel it with your fingers
