After the Rain
AFTER THE RAIN
She does not pick up the phone
You suddenly feel all alone
You wonder what went wrong
Why you could not get along
An argument, a misunderstanding
An exchange of words that left you wondering
Will everything really be okay?
Will our love live to see another day?
I wish all would go away before I wake
I sit here unable to digest the heartache
I can’t shake it off, get it out of my head
I lie down; my eyes wide open in bed
I feel stupid for feeling this way
It was simple; all I had to do was stay
Keep her close to me - watch her tears run dry
Now I hurt and ache because I made her cry
I was always the one that laughed at fear
Now I collapse to the thought of not having her near
I can’t imagine a day without her
I don’t want her tears, I want her laughter
One pushes, the other one pulls
This is not a game, there are no rules
Why must good things come at a price?
Why do truths have to come with a disguise?
You stayed, yet you still caused pain
She was drowning and you brought down more rain
You know you made a mistake, now you see it
Now you just hope she can forgive it
It is early and you know you are still learning
You know you love her; your heart is tied up in knots
You miss her touch, her kisses, you miss her lots
You want her by your side, her hand forever holding
You hurt when she does not pick up the phone
You hurt because without her you feel all alone
You hurt because you know where you went wrong
You hurt because you two could not get along
She does not pick up the phone
You suddenly feel all alone
You wonder what went wrong
Why you could not get along
An argument, a misunderstanding
An exchange of words that left you wondering
Will everything really be okay?
Will our love live to see another day?
I wish all would go away before I wake
