    DULL KNIVES

    DULL KNIVES

Excuse me while I cut a little more
Pardon me while I do it with no remorse
I am sorry, I am slamming the door
Thank you, but no thank you

You thought you could go back
    Stupid, shallow, dumb, immature
Scared of what you might have to endure
You walked away when you were under attack

    A pretty familiar feeling
    A pretty familiar face
    A very familiar space
You never knew how to deal with it

You still don’t know how to cope
You look at a knife, you look at a rope
You are to chicken shit, you are full of fear
Still, you fail to allow anyone near

So excuse me while I cut a little more
Excuse me if I dig in a little deeper
I lay here, can’t get off of the floor
Thank you, but no thank you

You allow people to see you at your best
You don’t allow people to see you at your worst
So proud, you still stick out your chest
Only to collapse when you are all alone

    Nobody understands, nobody gets it
That is how it is, that is how you live
So go on, cut a little more
Continue to do it with no remorse

Get stuck in a familiar place
Get stuck with a familiar feeling
    Slam the door once more
So hard you fall to the ground

You can’ rebound, you are tired
You simply lay there, dull knife in hand
Then you wonder how it would feel
If it weren’t dull, if you can cut a little more

Excuse me, now I have cut too far
I dug as deep as I could
I am on the floor, no strength to get up
Thank me, I am gone now.
