Where The Devil Plays

Where The Devil Plays

Walk like I walk
To where the dead still talk
But watch for the reaper
For your soul he'll stalk

Headstones crumble
As the light now fades
So I walk in the dark
Where the devil plays

Every single day
It seems to temp my soul
As the memories return
From the days of old

Calmly complacent
In this state of mind
But the screams still echo
And peace I don’t find

Scars reopen
I think they're bleeding again
But I’m here at home
And the war is in my head...

One side of the story?

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
