Thoughts on the Holiday
Thoughts on the HolidayDamn the shopping, damn the rain
Damn the crowds, the emotional pain
Why does Christmas also contain
So much dread and wallet drain
I like hot chocolate just by the fire
Curled up feet and a Tree to inspire
The meaning of Christmas, so often is lost
The message is Love, not how much it cost
Truly we should be grateful and give many thanks
For love and tenderness and keep our money in the bank
It’s not the present or the gift given
What really counts is the feeling within
Let’s roll back this silly Holiday tradition
And stop this needless, selfless condition
Design a new Holiday notion in our head
Write each other poems and send them instead
