They don't rule this world, A greater power does

Ah, but yet, the time is not here
You ask why I wasn't with you
Why I chose to stay behind
But the choice, in itself
Was not mine
It was mine to make
But not my choice to go through with
A little angst, I'm feeling
It's not that the whole world is against me
Just a small portion
The 'rulers' of the world, you could say,
The adults, the parents, the 'grown-ups'
Declare themselves as overlords of the nation
Leave us with no say in anything
If I could leave, I would, but I can't
So I won't
Too young to know things, they say
However, it's not that
It's that I have no way of getting anywhere
With or without you, my love
I feel betrayed, denied
My true Father is still with me
Yet, I am still angered
I can't really trust them
I feel
I want to leave
I want to run
Want to be free
To be my own
To be with you
To hold your love
Arm's embrace
I myself, am disgusted
Sloppy hounds of the earth
Sniff the ground on which I walk
Lick the dirt
Taste everything that comes by those filthy lips
Not pleasant, to say the least
Why, has this become of me?
Only three days has passed you say
It was more than a lifetime the second
You turned around
How do you think this makes me feel?
I want
I don't know what I want
I feel I love you, other times
Just a strong liking
I've fallen in like
'Cause I'm afraid to say love

But that's how it is
Day in, Night out
Night in, Day out
Or is it backwards?
I never could tell
The roads upon which we walk
The lights that we see
Everything is backwards
How is it I can't read anything
When I look into a mirror?
It's not fair
I say
The few books I've come in
Contact with
The millions of words I've read
Today
The heart and soul of
A single author
But as they inspire me
Thus, I inspire them
It is I that lifts them up
The visionary
The one who sees too far ahead
Born before the time of his own man
The men who will bring us out
The fires that kill, the ash that burns
So dark, so cruel
But is that it?
Never
I've told you the truth
A Father who will save you
A Father who has made you
What's stopping it?
You deny your Creator
With whom everything is done
The universe exists because of
Him
Yet, you in your ignorance
Ignore the fact
The fact that you
And I
And all the others
Were created to be with Him
You cannot deny that
It cannot be unproven
You bring me your science
I show you the truth
Not tell, show
Showing people things
Means so much more
Than telling
Prove it to them, show them
And they'll know
But you still don't get it
I've told you time, and time again
For it is you that needs it
Not I
I know that saving grace of Jesus
The truth upon which I stand
But I'm angered, to a point
That you resist
But no bother
You will hear the righteousness
Everyday
And I will still proclaim the name of Jesus

Another son of thunder, how was it that the Master convinced him that anger is folly when directed at the unconverted? Nevertheless, a zeal for others. Or, just maybe, an echo of John before Pentecost, when he met the true fire. There is a lot to like in this romantic ballad confessing the undone in the same room as the self-assured. Harv

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
