Sea of Life
As I gaze upon the waves of a powerful & mighty sea
Watching them thunder and crash endlessly upon the shore
It reminds me how tumultuous my life can be
Battering me on and on until I feel I can take no more
I watch the stormclouds as they gather and so quickly grow
My very existence is trouble, a neverending constant wave
The lightning over water adds an eerie and ominous glow
On this violent sea of life that is leading straight to the grave
I lose nearly all hope, then the storm abates, and the clouds quickly clear
Life can change so suddenly, I must take heart and not despair
The sea is a thing of beauty too and not always a wild thing to fear
Life will ever have its worries but also a multitude of wonders to share
All this I thoughtfully ponder as on the rugged coastline I stand
The ocean in all its beauty stretched out as far as the eye can see
The waves now very gently lap where they meet the golden sand
Giving hope that better times exist and they will surely come to be
So no matter how dark the stormclouds that hover overhead
Or how wildly and roughly the storms of life may hit
I can weather the storms with love and enjoy the calm that lies ahead
The beauty of this life is in having family and friends to share it
Watching them thunder and crash endlessly upon the shore
