Creating Rainbows

Life.... it often all seems just way too hard
When dealt a hand without a winning card
But there is always someone worse off than you
If you bother to ask what they are going through
When so many problems surround you on every side
When the only things you want to do are run away and hide
Then you hear a voice whisper, “That’s not the way to go,
You cannot give up when dealt a body blow.
There are those with whom you know you can share
Your troubles, big or small, that have you in such despair.”
And the problem is quite often halved when it is shared
Just because you know someone listened & showed that they cared

You know that you really shouldn’t complain
There are moments of sunshine amidst the rain
Those that seem so much worse off than you
Often find joy in the simplest things that they do
You can always take a lesson from their book
And search out a way for good things to look
And know that this is tried, tested and true
Helping others is really a nice way to help you
When a friend’s sun is shining and you are feeling low
Let them help you and together create a rainbow
When things are reversed and your sun is out in due course
Return the favour, your sun and their rain, the new rainbow’s source.
