    Control

    Our life isn't about control

You are not in charge of the whole

All people must be who they are

Not your role to set their own bar

What really matters each new day

Is dealing with what comes your way

    Self-control is possible, true

Let others do what they must do

It helps to share another's view

Just remember they are not you

Don't control each part of your life

It will just cause friction and strife

Let it go and enjoy the day

Share something random on the way

Look for the smiles that life does bring

Don't try for control of everything

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
