Praying to the Stars

Praying to the Stars

.
Praying to the Stars
.
Trying hard not to hear
But they talk so loud
Their piercing sounds fill my ear
Justs puts my head in a cloud
.
Yet I know that is their goal
But nothing seems half as good
Keeps me on track and on a roll
Like smashing with hard wood
.
This is draining all of me
I'll be wearing all these scars
Oh they find it hard to believe
I sliced them praying to the stars
.
Now everyone's looking round
This strange thing causing strain
My sanity melts into the ground
Straps don't work, use the chain
.
The must be using strong stuff
I didn't ask or need the pain
Once was bad twice was enough
Wasted now it was all in vain
.
And in this world of loneliness
Time starts to pass if chosen
Empty now nothing to confess
They make thoughts are frozen
.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
