    My ode to you

    The day i found out,
one of my best friends had died,
i didn't know what else to do,
    so i cried.
    I let my heart drain,
    from all of its tears,
    then i could look back,
    on all the good years.
    To hide my emotions,
    inside i tried,
    my tears hit the floor,
    and once again i cried.
    If heaven can only be,
    Gods true place for you,
    ill have to accept that,
but i guess you did too.
    All my tears and prayers,
for you that my voice has spoken,
a bond that only you and i had,
    which will never be broken.
    The things we did,
    to pass all the times,
    you'd play your guitar,
    and id write my rhymes.
In the end we put them together,
    and we knew all along,
by the end of the night,
    we wrote a memorable song.
    I cannot store,
    all my emotions inside,
    tears fall from heaven,
    and once again i cried.
    I remember it so clearly,
    that extremely sad day,
when the lord came down to earth,
    and took you away.
    Now your up in heaven,
    looking down to see,
    your parents endless prayers,
    and tears from this tragedy.
    To hide my emotions,
    inside i tried,
    my whispers hit the sky,
and one last time i cried.

CLB this has to be my favorite one from you. I feel the pain as I read your lines. Yes you hit some classic lines that many can relate to. I think on this one you took your time and it showed, I know it was for a friend, I am sure they are looking down and feeling your love for them. Great write.

Oh my God, why did I read this? Now I'm sitting here crying. It was so sad, so emotionally draining and real and very beautiful. Have you put all your poems in a chapbook? You really are an exceptional poet? I tell all my poets friends to at least put their favorite works in one of those anthology books. Of course they're a rip off but if I had the talent of my on'-line friends I 'd do it in a minute. My sister,a published poet and journalist did this as a joke and was amazed when they said her poem was selected. Of course later we realized everybody's poem gets selected. It's a scam but the books are gorgeous and she bought three volumes one for each of her kids. She won the silly fake contest but she gave them a very nice legacy and now we laugh. Don't let your beautiful works go unpublished,, publish it yourself or do something like this.

"I let my heart drain from all of it's tears", is a great line. I think this one line alone, EVERYBODY, adult age, can relate. And I must read on. Well, there you go again... another home run line (I am responding to the poem, not you or your pain personally)... "I'll have to accept that, but I guess you did too". You cried. And you know what else you did that your friend liked? You wrote a poem about him. You are a special person. Peace Out, EinStud .

thank you. i put my hear and soul into this one and read it at his funeral. his parents enjoyed the words.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
