INSIDE

A sliver of moon

shined in the west

While on the east side

Darkened still,

Caught my attention

When a moment ‘till

In the Distance,

Flashing brightly

A red light

captured me

As if to summon me

to show

A love exists

Beyond what I have known

Inside I recall

the path I strayed from

ignoring

my beloved’s call

Patiently he waited

as my heart

Began to fall

Holding my heart in the palm of his hands

encompassed by love

With no selfish demands

I am strengthened and peaceful

My head high

Grateful I stand

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
