A Tribute to my Mom

Poem Commentary

The lyrics to a song I wrote for my mom last christmas. I hope this speaks for children everywhere.

A Tribute to my Mom

Mom I love you because you understand,
When I'm caught in the whirlwind, you hold onto my hand,
And I can't count the tight spots you've gotten me through,
You've always said you loved me and Mom,
I love you too.

Although my every emotion becomes confusing,
Despite all my rejections, it's your advice I'm using,
And you know I want to grow up and be just like you,
You've always said you loved me, and mom,
I love you too.

Twelve years of teaching have driven me insane,
But they've also saved me, guess who gets the blame,
And no matter what I say when this song is through...
You've always said you loved me, and Mom

I love you too.

Thanks! My mom certainly seemed to enjoy it.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
