Biography

©by Pam Barletta Autobiographical Introduction

Life has lead me through a labyrinth of interlocking passages; a maze of varying shapes and sizes, full of surprises, each one holding me captive in my confusion for an illusion of time.

The landscapes of my journey range from the exalted visions of Dante's Inferno to the selfless wonder of Mother Teresa's simpatico. From Lucifer towards God, I've traveled, not withstanding an occasional respite; a honeycombed cell of solitary confinement necessary for me to languor from the toils of my assignments now and then.

That course which I've been given has not been driven by easy visions of black and white, as I would have liked to write it down here in an atmosphere of simple regards. Alas, there is no predictability in what I can see around the tall, jungle green hedges surrounding me, until I enter each unique cavity awaiting my presence.

Only secret pledges reside inside the carefully carved niches to which I am NOT privy, but kept in the dark until I stumble into their recesses! Yet, I would nearly swear to a spark of sureness, that whatever therein lies from yesterday, changes to something new "after" I've departed! Even though I'd gone through its charted trial; believed the gavel had dropped, set me free from its ordeal, and thought that part of the convoluted maze was sealed behind me, it had not!

No, no such luck, I'm afraid. Life designs its own everglade of rhyme and reason, never a season for me to create. I am here to learn from each gate that I enter, from summer through winter. And should I leave one section, having failed to learn its wisdom, there would be no reprieve. I would find myself (in my wanderings) returned to that same, or perhaps juxtaposed place, to face again its demand; receiving no less than a reprimand for my dereliction. For to abandon a lesson without understanding is paramount to accountability for my imperfection.

There are no bargains in the gardens I find; lilacs or dandelions, whatever the ground cover, is for me to discover inside the hedge grove. That which links the synapses in my mind, blindly binds me to my quest for inner-truth; uncensored, fated to be shared, related and translated here!

I hope that I have made it clear enough for you to see and feel that which I am about to reveal; a Life's journey of puzzle-pasted pieces, not, as I have all too often brought to thought, wasted to the wind.

Instead, my territory is not so unfamiliar to most; only here I am the host of words. And as you follow me along my path, I've little doubt that you might see and grasp at some of the very same crumbs left over from your own trials; hidden here inside the rhythms and rhymes of my minds ever-thirsting, ever-searching poetic tales.
