    DEAR DIARY

    DEAR DIARY

    I write from my mind and heart
    not always knowing where to start
    or what it is I have to say,
    only that some force of gravity
    pulls me back this way.

    I am engrossed, it seems,
    with star-gate dreams
    which lead me to this unfamiliar
    yet, memory shadowed land
    begging the need for scrutiny;
    as if I'd been here once before
    and left its territory prematurely.

    So here I am again, revisiting this place;
    a space in time, past time, present time
    future time, NO time!
    It is a quizzical land inside my mind
    and heart
    and stranger indeed timeless for me to chart?

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
