My turn

Poem Commentary

The truth.

My turn

I'm tired of pretending to keep people near me,
Hoping that one day they'll accept the true me.
Tired of being shut down when I open up to them,
Sick of playing by their rules, and so here, with my pen,
I'll write to all of them, and I'll tell them all,
That right now it's my turn, I'm sounding the call
I can be who I want and nobody can stop me,
Won't play servant to you, cause from now on I'll be free,
My turn starts now and for now and forever,
I'm going to be me, It's a lifelong endeavor.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
