    meeting of the felines

Silky fur as black as night
passes by the old street light
no one noticed as it crept
past the street and out of sight

down the alley it would slink
found a friend and gave a wink
two cats walking side by side
right down too the alley's brink

there they met a third and then-
their numbers soon raised up to ten
together they turned tail on the alley
and slunk back up the street again

    friends walking in the dark
for on a journey they'd embark
never to changing pace at all
unless, ears perked, they'd heard a bark
