Trapped Water

Trapped Water
A cup of still water
Just sitting on a table
Shackled by the cup
Unable to move
Children run and play
Unaware of the still object
Weeks go by
Weeks of sitting in one spot
Of being untouched and forgotten
The water becomes stale and moldy
And the children dart around the table
The cup is hit by a moving hand
And it slides off the edge
It falls
It shatters
The sound pierces the air
And the children freeze
The water may be wasted and lost
But it is free
Freed of the imprisoning cup
No longer trapped and immobile
Flowing and no longer fixed
Independent
No longer prisoner
