As I Watch You Sleep
Curled up on the car seat, the landscape flashing by,
I watch you sleep beside me, laying against my legs.
So sweet your face is now, peaceful,
devoid of stress or sadness. . . .
I watch you sleep.
Your slow deep breathing is a song,
a small smile on my lips.
Your eyelids shut, concealing your brown eyes,
though I do not long gazing into them.
Your warmth is soft and precious on my thighs,
and I sigh; so sweet your slumber is. . . . .
