Kissed By The Moon
O’ this silent midnight rush,
The stars flashing out of sight.
The moon grows ever larger
As I rise higher in the sky.
The wind throws back my hair,
Pushing my eyelids nearly shut.
I shunt away the fright
That fills a fragment of my mind.
The adrenaline stands above it,
Fascination right below.
I can see the water moving,
Thousands of feet below,
Waves crashing on each other,
They seem playful more than angry.
The smell of salt scarcely reaches my nose.
Moonlight paints the ocean white,
Leaving the sky a shocking black.
The contrast seems quite peaceful,
As though two halves were made whole.
I leave the world far, far behind,
Swimming in serenity,
As the moon leans down to kiss my forehead.
