    Poem Commentary

    A bit of fun

    The Yim Yam Tree

The flying fish flew in the sky’s so blue

Above the land of the Yim Yam Tree

There were frogs dancing on logs in clogs

To humming bird’s that sang out of key

Tall giraffe’s sat cross legged reading the telegraph

And never a cross word was spoken

When drunken bees slurred their A’s, B’s and C’s

Because their buzz machine was broken

The Arctic Fox wore blue and red socks

Further north of a line of Yim Yam Tree’s

Where Polar Bears sailed by on Glacier mints

Blown by a south westerly breeze

The crying cross eyed crooning croc

Sang before judges one, two, three

Found himself before a jury, in a doc

After eating the judges for his tea

    Soldier ants wearing lederhosen pants

Scrambled through a Yim Yam Tree in decay

Using spiders web ropes, singing army chants

Met up with spiders who wanted to play

A suntanned Zebra was always first by the pool

Placing his black and white towel on his bed

Being camouflaged ended his poolside rule

When a rather large hippo sat on his head

Growing in the patchwork fields are cantaloupe

Bearing fruit that has the flavour like brie

You can hear the sweet song of the Antelope

Beneath the bowers of the Yim Yam Tree

I really enjoyed this whimsical and fantastic poem. It has a very Dr. Seussian kind of vibe to it. I liked your use of alliteration and the poem had a nice flow to it. Great job.

A very funny ride, made all the more so by dead-pan, matter-of-fact delivery and an amazing aptitude for rhyme earns you 10 Yim Yams : )

Thanks for your kind words. I had alot of fun writing it and it goes down well when I do poetry gigs.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
