The Man in the Glass
When you do things you do just to be yourself
And your friends make you feel like your "King for a Day"
Just go look in the mirror at yourself
And see what that man has to say
For it isn't your father or mother or wife
When judgment you have to pass;
the fellow whose heart counts the most in your life
Is the man staring back from the glass
Some people may think you're a real cool dude
And call you a honest and great guy
But the man in the glass says your only a bum
Because you can't even look him in the eye
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he is with you clear up to the end
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your very best friend
You may fool the whole world down the pathways of life
And get pats on your back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.
