Just Let me go Home
It's a beautiful place with it's bright chandeliers
And ceilings that reach so high
This is the place they send you when you get old
But it's not yet time to die.
They don't remember the diapers we changed
Or skinned knees from the first steps they took
It's all just a breif visit now
A name in a visitors book
The care we gave them when they were small
Doesn't seem to come to mind
When it comes to taking care of us
They can't seem to find the time
Som of us lucky ones
Have family visits every day
But they just come for a short while
They never seem to stay
So with our walkers and our wheelchairs
We stroll down these lonely halls
looking at pictures that are unknown to us
Which hang upon these walls
This is our new home now
And content we have to be
We've grown to feble to care for ourselves
And some of us can but hardly see
We set and talk amongst our selves
Friends we make, we hold ver dear
We'll probably spend the rest of our days
Talking together, setting right here.
We have memories of our old homes
Where we lived before we got old
Now most of out things have been given away
And most of our houses sold.
Some of us cry and plea,
"Just let me go home"
Walking the halls all hours of the night
Hours upon hours we roam
Alone and empty
That's the way we feel inside
We've lost all self esteme
We've even lost our pride.
But one day the Angles will come
And these halls, no more will we roam
We will forever be with Jesus
And we'll finally get to go home.
