God Knocked Four Times
God came in Childhood
And pleaded, "Let me in"
But the door to his heart was bolted
With carelessness and sin.
"I am too young", the boy replied
I don't have time for you today.
He said, "Come back tomorrow"
So God went away.
God came again and pleaded
This time it was "Happy Hour"
He got no answer from the young man
He was being lured by the devil's power
He sat there drinking and finally he said,
"I'm getting drunk today"
So dissapointed again,
God turned and went away.
Again God called in mercy
The boy was now a man, and in his prime
But God got no welcome
He was now a businessman and had no time.
No time for sorrow or repentance
Not even time to stop and pray
God was so repulsed and saddened
Again, He turned and went away
Once more God called, and he waited.
The man was ill and had grown very old.
He could hardly even whisper
His heart had grown bitter and cold.
"Go away!, If I need you I'll call"
The old man cried.
He then turned over, buried his face in his pillow
And he lay there and died.
