REFRIGERATOR ART
If I were an artist I’d paint you a lovely landscape.
To frame and place on a wall.
But I am no Picasso at all.
The best pictures I can offer;
Are of stick figures holding hands.
Maybe a mosaic created with sand.
Would you pull out your magnets,
And place it upon your refrigerator;
For all to see?
A silly creation made by me.
If I could sew I’d make you a quilt
To keep you warm on chilly days.
But sadly I do not create that way.
If I could but carry a tune.
I’d play you a song of the cow,
Jumping over the moon.
I’ve only my words to offer as my finest art form.
My greatest creation was upon the days you were born.
For my greatest pieces of art I’ve ever done.
Were the creations of my two wonderful son’s
Finer than any Rembrandt, Bach, or Shakespearian play
But I can honestly say;
Better than any of these things.
My son’s are truly,
The wind beneath my wings.
I may not be able to show them off on my refrigerator.
But, my love for them could not be greater.
