FEAR
The fear creeps in,
it engulfs me.
Stealing my breath.
Causing my heart to race.
Can it be heard?
I will my beating heart,
to quiet.
To prevent any chance,
that I'll be discovered.
As I huddle alone
in the darkened room.
I shiver in fear.
I hear a shuffling movement,
from above.
The third step from the bottom protests a burden,
upon its surface.
It's a warning,
that I'm no longer alone
I shiver at what's to come.
Fear trickles a bead of sweat,
down my spine.
Causing me to tremble
in anticipation.
What awaits me,
in the dark?
Besides my fear.
