Procrastination
"Tomorrow",I said, laying down on my bed;
"I'll get something done.
I'll get ahead."
But tomorrow, it came
and tomorrow, it went
and I cannot remember
how my day was spent.
I didn't do laundry
or dishes or floors -
I didn't make my bed
or do the rest of my chores.
I didn't prepare breakfast'
brunch, lunch, or dinner --
not even a snack --
not that I remember.
"But tomorrow",
said I, as I stretched over my bed,
"Ill get something done!
I'll get ahead!"
"I'll vaccum the livingroom
and bedroom rugs;
I'll knock down the cobwebs
and suck up the bugs!
I'll dust all the tables,
the piano and stands;
I'll wipe down the bookshelves
using both of my hands!
I'll mop the kitchen
and the bathroom floors --
I'll scrub the whole house!
Even the doors!
Just not today",
I declared with a sigh.
"Today is almost gone
tomorrow is nigh."
"So Tomorrow",said I,
stretching my arms over my head,
[yawn] "I'll get it all done --
if I don't stay in bed!"
