Night Time Symphony
The sun has gone down.Darkness covers the city
and the night time
orchestra begins to warm
their instruments.
The chirping of crickets
hiding in the grass
can be heard above
the hum of the street lamp
and builds with
the disgruntled yapping
of dogs in the distance.
A high pitched siren
screams through the night
and the laughter
of adolescent teens
rise and fall
as they make their way
up the sidewalk.
The rolling of thunder clouds
builds to a loud cresendo and
suddenly a flash of lightning
brightens the evening sky.
Another loud clap of thunder
fills the air
before the symphonic performance
of rain drops
pitter patter downward
changing their chords
with every object the hit.
Soon the rain will stop
and only the sweet evening
chirping of crickets
and the hum of the street lamp
will once again fill the night air.
