Moments In the Rain

Moments In the Rain

Tranquil…

moments in the rain….

I allow the droplets to fall over me

thinking of your love.

How you wash me clean.

I am reminded of everyday tasks…

how you allow each of them

to become a lesson to me;

I try to see You in my life.

Just as I would cut open a melon

to remove the skins and seeds

I see where you also

look inside of me

to remove the seeds of sin;

Peeling away my outer skins

that has become hard

and callused --

You allow me to see

the freshness to what lies beneath.

Fruit that is only borne

when you are allowed

to work through me.

And I stand

Looking into the mirrors

Of the puddles beneath my feet;

seeing that I have been blessed.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
