Old Pains

Old Pains

Looking at the canyon
beneath the reddish sky
tired sun about to set
my eyes refuse to dry.

Earth's amazing beauty
 does nothing to forget
the sore within my heart
sad sorrows and regrets.

Deep sighs drowned by the wind
hope to release my pains
cold nights awaits new day
but memory remains.

Heavy steps in darkness
 as I turn to retreat
bring back dusty pages
of old book in the shelf.

If I just close my eyes
it might mend shattered heart
morning dew brings new start
Promising day to last.

Clear sky suggests fresh day
these canyons hide some plains
other views beyond hills
might give me renewed strength.

Now I am set to start
hope to find the right path
the journey as at hand
 there is no turning back.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
