Just A Dream?

Just A Dream?

A shining STAR mong the stars,
Yet, a 'man of the world' - that's what you are;
With inspiration and rare brilliance,
you make things happen without a wand.

You're a magnet with such a force
that pulls the earth from it's usual course,
A quiet sound of thundering voice,
a power of steel with a heart of gold.

With your strength the mighty would yield,
the weak would bow, the rich would shrink;
A wind of fortunes, you proudly shine,
with generous heart and helping hands.

You awe them all with genuine touch,
Baring your soul with open heart.
But, are you real? I need to ask.
Or just a dream that will soon pass?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
