Poem Commentary

another that came out of my brain

Man

My emotions run deep,
Most will never know,
They are like the deepest gorge,
Yes, I can and might cry a little,
It takes a real man to admit this,
To be moved by something beautiful or sad is not a sign of weakness,
You can the baddest man on the planet
But to show emotion, passion, or true feeling is good for the soul,
Do not be afraid it will not make you any less a man
Anyone who says that is just afraid,
I feel sorry for them for they will never know Happiness is for the taking but you need to show your emotions,
So embrace all those feelings and truly live

HarverTomsson commented on Man

12-06-2009

As Walter Mathau voiced from the bitch seat of the Tim Robbin's mo'cycle, in "IQ," "Wa- hoooooo!" Here the gestalt makes this good, better than its parts. It resonates with me.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
