Just Me
I am so ordinary, just flesh and bone,
a beating heart and soul unknown.
I can dream and send my mind away
into vast, unknown realms, or display
an attitude that leaves me all alone.
I can cry, laugh, just sit and moan,
or write a book, or act half-grown.
I can accept myself as just okay.
I am so ordinary.
I can run and jump, or be a mossy stone.
Or be kinder than most men are prone.
I can hate or wish a friend good day
and think of something nice to say.
Then this epithet on my headstone,
I am so ordinary.
