Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Nail
Humpty Dumpty sat on a ten penny nail
He cried so hard his little, round face turned pale
His short, fat arms couldn’t reach the bent spike
Jack Sprat noticed as he rode up on his bike
Humpty put his big bottom in the blue sky
With sideways look asked Jack to give it a try
“Please, remove the source of my pain and my ache
My ability to roll along and to sit is at stake”
Jack whipped out the claw end of his hammer
This is going to hurt just a little, he stammered
Foot on Humpty’s butt for leverage, he tugged.
The nail found a foothold and was too snug.
He yanked and pulled with all of his might
The nail lodged in hardboiled shell firmly tight
Jack Sprat declared he had done all he could do
Wish he could help more but he had problems too
Mr. Dumpty rued the day he sat on a nail
For it found a permanent place in his egg tail.
