Forbidden Rendezvous...

Poem Commentary

In composing this poem, I wanted my readers to share and experience the forbidden passion and love of two people denied an open and meaningful relationship.  I tied to place the reader on the shore, hiding in the shadows and peering into the rocks, as they watched two lovers come together and paint a tapestry of emotion on a canvas of secrets.

Sometimes, those cherished memories of a lost lover is all we have to cling to, when the winters of our discontent become our only friend.

Forbidden Rendezvous...

He stood impatiently waiting for her,

His secret and forbidden lover to appear

The alluring moon accented the drifting clouds,

As they scattered and silently floated by;

And, hoping, not to be noticed by on comers,

He slipped into the shadows and waited until she came nearer—

A last you show, as he murmurs and scurries to meet her,

With anticipation, his heart pounds with carefree bliss

And, as they come together, he whispers in her ear, so secretly...

Their shadows are consumed, as they stand now in the misty fog…

He gently whispers to her, "I’ve longed for you," as they frantically kiss,

And as they gaze upon one, tearfully into each other’s eyes

They appreciate the brief moments; for they know that this secret

Rendezvous Is nothing but a reunion of deceit and lies,

That they will keep from those who would ridicule, and jealously deny—

Now, with time of the essence,  and a unknown fate or destiny…

He begs to his woman, my beloved come to me… take every part of me,

With tears in his eyes, he asks her to keep him naked and meek;

I want you to seduce me with your kiss, provoke my desires until the end.

I want you to race with me to the fiery pits of hell; and open the devil’s door

To lie forever on a bed of obsession, as lost lovers, gone for evermore...

With this forbidden rendezvous; a rhapsody in blues, on this sandy floor—

My clandestine lover, I hear your gentle whispers, as you hold me tight…

Share your seductive thoughts, as we sell our unforgiving souls tonight.

I sense desire from your provoking clinch, scorch my sanity and reason,

Send me into that inferno of endless lust; inhibitions of untold pleasures—

I want  you to feel the sizzling fire of desire, a seductive sweet temptation;

And to know, you’ll burn in ecstasy, as you feel that soothing sensation

Don’t kindle this yearning of  heat, ignite me; send my body to its peak…

Leave me breathless, reveal the nakedness; I want you to sear me—

As time moves so quickly, they steal that last embrace,

Two shimmering bodies cast an image of sameness

Under the hazy moon lite sky… a rendezvous of secret lovers,

A private interlude at night; taking forbidden love, and not caring;

Yes… two sharing the escapades of pleasures in idyllic delight—

They gasped and released their thirsty, lustful, and raging torment of love;

Dousing the burning embers of stolen and forbidden moments;

With guilt on their faces, they lie still on a bed of deceit in silence…

Desiring just one last moment, a moment of grandeur... now found,

Their bodies echo harmonious shadows, as two silhouettes arise from the ground...

  Leaving the footprints of a forbidden rendezvous—

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
