Poem Commentary

God please let some of these people burn in hell. Your son, Isaiah 66:24

These People

    I'm on this stage
These people, all have left
    me holding this bursting heart
    I don't understand
these people, tell me it's a new start
    it's in the plans
    this past had stains
These people remember
    to my dismay
these people, all are the same
    I light fires under
these people's feet
    I run and hide
    I'm always discreet
These people, all are the same
    rocks talking to rocks
    Who really listens?
    Waves, I have beaten
these people, since my birth
    it's some kind of curse
    to love these rocks
    no matter what
    I write, do, or say
    I cannot explain these rocks
to these people, it's all the same
these people remember
    everything from "a" to "z"
these people know true confessions yet
these people don't know me
    I reveal myself everyday
    I'm on this stage
there's no applause
    a great new contract
    but forgotten in some clause
These people remember
    be they friend or foes?
    I don't know
these people, all are stones
These people can't feel one more
    When will these people believe?
There is so much to me
These people remember everything yet
these people have no intensity
     I weep
these people know I'm weak
    drowning in this love
    these people never seek.

Wow. This one really hit home for me. Especially the analogy of the people to rocks. At least there is a clarity in knowing that the situation is what it is and nothing more. I appreciate the real-ness of the poem. It also has a good flow to it.

poem has timeless form .............

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
