The Comparable of the Four Students
The Comparable of the Four StudentsThe State of the Union is like a certain teacher who was unionized with tenure. Over the Winter Solstice she assigned each of her four students, who had differing talents and abilities, to do two book reports each, as dictated by the Department of Education and mandated to the local district. Then the woman left for vacation with no fear of being terminated.
After break, the first student, returned from his mansion (both his parents were members of congress and could now claim minority status for being homosexuals) with two finished reports. His chosen books were three grade levels below those currently authorized for his age, and two levels below his natural abilities. However, his books had not yet been banned by the Justice Department. "Great work! Wonderful, and diligent student -- you will do well as an adult." His teacher removed him from his literature class and placed him in a special class: Regaining Your Self-Esteem. He went on to write children's books promoting the propaganda for the Grand Dictator of his Age.
The second student, returned from a nice home, both her parents were retired (except when shuttled to the last remaining strategic areas) forty-year-olds and card carrying members of SEIU. Both her books were chosen from The Official Oprah's List and met the requirement for her age. "Well done, good and special but not too special student -- you will do well as an adult." Her teacher gave her a "B-" as she did for the first. This student went on to become a journalist for the last remaining news Network: MSNBC and was rarely if ever heard from again.
The third student came from the encampment, where one was isolated, reprogrammed successfully, or executed. He wrote a satirical but detailed abstract on the Origin of Species. He wore a communist red uniform shirt, the signal he had been reprogrammed successfully. The teacher spoke to him: "Good job, now knowing student, but you still get a 'B-' for only doing one book. You now may rejoin serfdom." He rose-up and went on to become a Hollywood producer.
The fourth student came from a broken down hovel. Both her parents died within the Universal Healthcare System and she was being raised in serfdom (formally known as the working middle-class) by her aunt, who would not divorce, and uncle. She wore a Green Peace T-shirt -- new and clean, the best and only Winter Solstice present she'd ever receive. She had chosen an unrevised, unedited, without commentary copy of The Federalist and The Winter Solstice Sweater. The student spoke, "I knew you would give me a 'B-', so I reported on legally banned books."
"You wicked and evil student. If you knew you were to receive a 'B-', you should have done no work at all. You shall be cast to the outer encampment, where you will be taught the oracles of communism, chapter and verse. You do receive a 'B-' as to not promote competition, which we all know promotes that evil Capitalism." The teacher then commanded that the youth be escorted by two of the other students to the back incinerators for disposal of said books, where they would wait for the proper authorities to shackle and take her away.
During which time the young student locked eyes with one of her escorts, and began sobbing uncontrollably, for she knew she would never be the same again.
