    Poem Commentary

    Many of my poems are figurative, but this one is literal.  I had the unfortunate experience of falling for a homosexual friend of mine a few years ago.  This poem is about him.

    The Friend

     Respectfully
    I asked
    If I
    Could touch
    Your face.

    I could feel your spirit soften
    Gone to grace.

    Slowly, I moved forward
    Kissed your cheek.

    Can you feel
    No longer
    Feeling bleak?

    And you recoiled...
    Frightened by the love
    I have for you.

    I hear what
    You are saying
    But it doesn't match
    The you I know
    Inside.

    I slinked away
    And pouted
    Knowing you
    Not knowing
    Who you are.

    ooof, I have fallen for those as intangible, never a homosexual man but definately one that was not within my comprehension, I comiserate w/ u my friend
