    The Cop

Because of a cop’s racist act

A man lost his life who happens to be black

The man was seen on the ground begging for his life

    Wouldn’t you know it

The cop who murdered him had to be white

Although the incident was caught on video

They still wanted to hide it and not let the public know

Talking about we have to investigate

It’s obvious the cop is full of hate

There was no reason under the sun

Why the cop had to reach for his taser or his gun

After he pulled the trigger, it was way too late

Mr. Oscar Grant had met his fate (death)

Now the cop has left another family to grieve

Because the daughter will grow up without her father

    That she will never see

All because the cop had an itchy trigger

Probably said to himself it’s just one less (shhh)

Mr. Poetry, You know the racism with cops is rampant. I can't stand hearing about another black man being abused by what they call the justice???? system. Sorry to hear about Mr. Grant's bad fortune. I do agree with the sentiments in this poem. ginga

the one thing i cant stand are racists people and most cops are people are people no matter the color. what comes with in is what should matter no need for hatred please no more batter like i said people are people no matter the color. we are all equal and the same i wonder if we were to cut the cop open to see his insides will they be purple or blue. heaven for bid they are the same as ours would be. what a shame for those people to cause pain lets all live in peice and not love in vain

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
