    Forgotten Pasts

    Walking through an empty corridor
I don't know who was there before
I'm sliding through an open door
Unsure of why I left it before

    Sitting on a velvet chair
But what was here before it was there?
    I don't know anymore;
In this empty, colorless world I live in.

    If everything is present
    There was no beginning
    If everything is present
    Is there an end?

    Stories are never told,
    They are washed away
    From the shores of oblivion
    And sucked into the tides

    Lives are never led,
    If all memories are forgotten
No one ever had once said
    Anthing...it's all forgotten

    Triumphs are so pointless
    When none else can prove
    Winning would mean nothing
Since you have it all lost, nothing to lose

A life that is not recalled of
    Is a lifetime spent alone
Since there is no one that you may talk to
That would know when you're really home

But, a life that is remembered
Is always a life that is rich with events...

the impression that I get from this poem is "if a tree falls in the middle of the forest and no one is there to see it, does it make a sound?" If a person lived completely alone and no one saw him do anything, did he even exist at all? If no one recalls you, once you die it was like you were never alive. You have been erased from the minds of people, from existence.

I guess I can kinda feel where you're coming from. The ending is like, 'So live for the now' kind of thing. Sorry if I enterpret this wrong. Do you know what a death echo is? Since time is relative it's thought to be easy if something imprints itself in the time stream to echo about at certain points, so if I belive in that I can sorta edge myself away from that kind of view though it isn't a bad thing always. Does this make sense?

I understand what you're saying, but I kinda based this poem on Alzheimer's disease after reading an article about it. Like...if people are so focused on the NOW, then where will you be in life? What if you forget it all?

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
