For love she did defend

For love she did defend

Dust covered dreams of wedded bliss
Crushed beneath her feet over one kiss
Promised to be wed to the King’s son
But by the King’s knight, her heart was won

Found was she, kissing the King's knight
Drawn into his arms, it felt so right
Was it wrong to love a man so worthy?
now her knight has met a fate worst than she

Her actions to the King, she did defend
She's left to ponder passion’s wretched end
Now all her hopes and dreams lay vanishing
Damned because she was so ravishing

Tossed was she, into a darkened cell
For evermore her life's a living hell

Wow!!! A dark ages poem, nice to hear one that seems like Shakespeare without all the old english language!!! Well Done

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
